STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
This is a view of the Kawah Ijen crater, where the miners come every day to collect chunks of sulfur.
Here, this big rock has been covered with sulfur. In the background, the most acidic lake in the world.
The whole time I was there the view was blocked by the fumes of sulfur dioxide. This is when the wind, one day, blew the toxic fumes away that I discovered this scale deposited here by men and the striking contrast of the yellow from sulfur with the blue from the acidic lake.
