    Short Story
I was born in Mexico City, Mexico and raised in New York City. One may concur that I proclaim myself to be a city girl and you are correct. Ever since I was young, I was drawn to the variety of signage, fashion, colors, and types of people roaming around big cities. I was never bored and always curious. I started off tracing the letters on the sidewalks, or the old tags and scribbles people often got to engrave on the pavements while it was still wet. While visiting Mexico late in my life, I fell in love with typography. Though out of necessity, most business owners hand paint their awnings and stands to attract consumers. It is funny how they themselves do not realize that they have created a style all their own. It was not until I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin my junior year of high school, that I fell in love with print. I learned to work an offset press and soon after, I was making improvements to my teachers techniques to make production faster and easier. It must have been the way the plate released the ink on the paper, which made a squishy sound I will never forget. Or maybe it was the smell of the ink that was hard to wash off my hands and stayed for days. Regardless, I was in love and I wanted to learn more. Pretty soon, I mastered book binding, silk screening and Illustrator 6. By 2005, I was attending the Fashion Institute of Technology as a Communication Design major and the rest is history.

    Present Day
Today, I work for the big man. In order to do my part in keeping my culture alive I dance, perform and learn through Ballet Folklorico Mexico Hermanos Avila in Milwaukee. I freelance for non profit orginaztions and I am mixed media artist. Occasionally exhibiting work as time permits. In my free time, I do community and political outreach using creative media to engage and communicate engaging my audience with simple and bold typography. Also, I travel quite often, read on current events, issues and technology.
