Slim Aarons 2025 is a contemporary intervention into the mythology of luxury immortalized by photographer Slim Aarons, whose iconic images of the mid-century elite—sun-drenched, effortlessly glamorous, and often set in the Hollywood Hills—came to define aspirational living. In stark contrast, this work places shop mannequins with crutches in a derelict poolscape, subverting the polished aesthetic Aarons championed. Here, beauty is paired with decay, fashion with failure, and aspiration with abandonment. Printed on a reflective metal surface, the image heightens the artificiality of the scene while anchoring it in a hyperreal, fractured dreamscape.
