Shivet Pande - India

"The woodcutter's axe begged for its handle from the tree"- By Rabindra Nath Tagore (Stray birds).

The thought for the painting started with the above quote, and grew into a search for an instance that might have inspired the quote. The painting captures a woman who gives up her spiritual pursuits to raise a child and questions God about putting her in such a situation. The underlying corollary to the story is our inability to perceive how difficult situations, draw us closer to God. On going beyond our 'Self' and our cemented notion of aspirations, we might find that its not about what we do but rather how we do. This is the thread like divide between being god or being human.
