I want my photos to look like a photoshopped image.
We live in a world full of images that are far from reality. In May 2023, a fake image of a massive explosion near the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., spread across social media, briefly caused panic across stock markets. The image was faked by AI. There are tons of images floating around online that aren't real, and it confuses us. We are exposed to so many stimuli. I think of this as image assault.
The reason I started the Red Ball project. It made me think about the role of a photographer and the reason for being. Almost everyone sees my photos and thinks they are photoshopped. When they realize that I shot them by throwing the ball myself, they have a contradictory reaction. And ask me 'Why?'. The meaning is that it's easy to make an image. Why do you have to work hard to throw it and shoot it? The reason is that I'm a photographer.
