BIO

The artist known as Fesma was born Filippo Esmaily and grew up in Bologna where he was exposed to its cultural influences. There, he studied at the High school of Art, after which he obtained a degree in cinema and visual arts. Fesma's ideas really began to evolve when he started to explore the "Planet" around him. After his studies, "the trip of his life" brought him to Tenerife, Vigo, London, Luxembourg and, now, Valencia; places which have all helped to hone his vision.

Fesma is a multidisciplinary artist, working in painting and photography. He sees art as a way to transmit his unique perspective of the contemporary world, using social critics of the system as the basis by which he develops his work. Considering himself an "artist activist", social commitment is as important, as integral, as his artistic one, especially in the area of human rights and social discrimination of minorities, and those have out-of-the-box thinking. His artworks are the product of his meditations. His art is his way to try to change the world.
