Alfonso's obsession with cleanliness is manifested in repetitive movements used to apply and remove charcoal in different surfaces: walls, rags and paper, as a result Stains (2015 – 2018) is a series of six quilts sewn together with the remaining rags used to clean each line performance (Underscore). The quilts show the translucency and the reminiscence of marks collected after scrubbing off the charcoal. She considers inheritance, manual labor, and the poetics of mark making to question her surroundings and the economic systems she inhabits.
