My name is Su-Ling Tsai, coming from Taichung City, Taiwan. I was awarded two Master’s degrees, one in fine art from IAA (Institute of Applied Art) of National Chiao Tung University and another in industrial design from Asia University. Oil painting is my preferred media for creation. Unlike some oil painters who like to play with the opaque properties of oil paints, my approach to oil paintings is to explore the transparent and the translucent aspects afforded by oil paints. I love to bring out the refreshing lightness of transparency effects from the heaviness so often associated with oil paints. I hate routines. I am passionate in finding and creating textures that are unseen before, and, therefore, despite that my technique is painstakingly laborious and slow, I'm so happily engaged in my studio work, day after day.
