BIOGRAPHY Guto Ajayu, La Paz, Bolivia 1990. He was raised between the bolivian mountains and jungle. Living in Madrid, Spain since 2016. ***“Guto” is the nick name as he is called by his very close friends and relatives; and “Ajayu” is that unbreakable and unexplainable part of the Andean Culture that means “soul” in the antique Aymara andean languaje He has create his first drawings and sculptures at five years old, and since then his family have encougared him to create more and more. ***During his entire life, Guto felt deep inside his precolumbine roots and culture. During his art estudies, he discovered Pop Art (or as he proclaimed, in some point between his artistic hallucinations and dreams) and immediately felt identified with these style that shows the popular icons and the popular simbology as art. Then Guto Ajayu began with experimentation between the Pop Art and the Andean culture elementes. In some new works, the artist starts to use also some Urban Elements on his work. Influenced mostly by the bolivian painter Mamani Mamani and Andy Warhol, Guto Ajayu is one of the first artists making something that he calls: ANDEAN POP ART ***With Andean Pop Art, Guto wants to show three things: 1. How the antique andean past and the international presente can live together and be synergists. 2. With irony and smiles Andean Pop Art celebrates the fun part of life, because ¡Life it´s a dance.! ¡The sacred meanning of Los Andes culture its now a party! ¡VIVA LA VIDA! 3. That The Andes are Cool ***Guto creates spontaneously, without prior drawing and with instinct.The process of creation begins with his memories, deep study and experiences with the Andean culture. Then the artist laughs (as he declares) to get to find the pop and fun sense of the piece of art. ***The artist wants the audience to laugh and enjoy the universe of Guto Ajayu, where two eras and two worlds blend. Although many artists combine the past with the present, Guto Ajayu rescues that link forgotten by many people: Los Andes. ***Welcome to Guto Ajayu´s adventure. ***LosAndesAreCool ARTISTIC EDUCATION ***He studied Fine Arts in the Faculty of fine Arts of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés of La Paz City, obtaining the degree in 2016 with outstanding qualifications y with the express recommendation of the entire jury to publish his Thesis “ Postmodern elements in XX and XXI centuries in the bolivian art: Scuptural proposal”, being the first Postmodern art cientific study in Bolivia.
