JUCI KELE

ARTIST STATEMENT

I'm JUCI /jutsi/. I dance. I paint. I design.

Painting is important to me for a long time. I began painting my feelings as a teenager.

As an architect, I was always enchanted by textures, surfaces, proportions and colours.

Motherhood started a new stage in my life. My daughters hold a mirror in front of me and owing to it. I can find myself again just like in dancing, meditation, self-recognition and love.

While I'm painting I feel like I’m in a dream-world of fairies, elves and strange, but cute creatures. In my pictures, a world of dream and soul comes to life sometimes through fairy creatures, sometimes just in a non-figurative way.

My repetitive topics are meditative states, freedom, loneliness, our uniting with the infinite in their profoundness, and the duality of longing and arriving.

Though my pictures are based on my own experiences, I think the feelings rising from them can be common to all of us.

That's my diary, for you.
