Dariusz Witold Mierzwa (born 1959 in Chorzów, Poland) is a Polish painter and multidisciplinary visual artist whose work encompasses painting, mixed media and digital art. A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Katowice, he is a member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists (ZPAP), La Maison des Artistes in Paris and Mondial Art Academia.

His artistic language combines material painting, symbolic narration and contemporary figuration, exploring themes of memory, emotion and the fragility of the human condition. Through layered textures, expressive forms and metaphysical imagery, Mierzwa creates visual spaces suspended between reality and inner reflection.

Rooted in symbolic surrealism, his works present the human figure as a metaphorical presence navigating time, transformation and existential tension. Organic structures intertwine with architectural and cosmic forms, creating narratives about identity, vulnerability and spiritual balance. Rather than illustrating mythology directly, the artist reinterprets archetypal symbols as a language for describing contemporary anxieties, environmental imbalance and the psychological landscape of modern life.

Recurring motifs such as faces, hands and solitary figures function as universal signs of perception, empathy and human awareness. Mierzwa’s artistic practice remains a dialogue between traditional painterly matter and contemporary digital processes, combining tactile materiality with an experimental visual language.

He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland and internationally, including projects presented in New York - MoMA Art Event, MAXXI Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo in Rome, as well as the international solidarity exhibition with Ukraine in Odessa. His works have been exhibited in Spain, France, Italy and other European countries, and are held in private collections across Europe and abroad.

Recipient of several international artistic distinctions, including recognitions associated with the Luxembourg Art Prize, Dariusz Witold Mierzwa regards painting as a reflective and transformative act - an attempt to translate inner states, collective memory and emotional tensions into a symbolic visual language.
