Highlands I Identity is based on analogue black-and-white landscape photographs from the 1990s. Through experimental darkroom processes, the prints appeared only in grey tones. With the Macintosh as a new tool, I scanned the negatives, digitally enhanced their traces, and added color, creating an early dialogue between analogue photography and digital media. Today, I continue this process with artificial intelligence, opening a new layer of visual narration. From the archival material, new worlds emerge in which a female figure appears – at once muse, companion, and projection. She inspires, encourages dreams, and conveys courage and hope. The project explores the transitions between photography, digital transformation, and AI-based image production. It connects past and present and reflects how technological developments can shape our perception of identity and memory.
