Andrea started to unlock a deep sense of joy through letters after taking a few calligraphy classes at the University of Iowa from world-renowned calligrapher professor, Glen Epstein.  Through taking Glen's classes Andrea was shown a different way to think about design using letters.  But it wasn’t until her first art contract in 2008 that she discovered that others might benefit from buying her artwork.   Requests for customized artwork started coming in on a semi-regular basis.  It was just enough to keep her motivated to create, while trying to balance life with two young children.  Now that both kids are in school, it's exciting to create on a regular basis without interruptions.  Andrea's inspiration for painting, photgraphy and lettering is greatly influenced by her relationship with God and relationship with others. 

When Andrea's not painting or taking photos she can be seen enjoying LOTS of outdoor activities with her husband, which include: cycling, hiking, running, rollerblading and downhill skiing.  She also looks forward to camping as a family, gardening with her outdoor cat, singing at her awesome church and reading and playing Legos with her two children.
