The Unrest of Visibility - II

Olivia Jochum - Austria

The gaze of others has intensified in the digital age. Through social media, private thoughts, images, and emotions are made publicly visible and continuously evaluated. The work explores the psychological impact of this constant observation and the inner pressure that emerges from permanent visibility.

The small human figure appears lost between the gaze of others and its own inner chaos. The numerous eyes symbolize social control, expectation, and the persistent feeling of being watched. Strong color contrasts and the dynamic composition create an atmosphere of emotional unrest and vulnerability.

The artwork was created using oil pastels, allowing raw textures and spontaneous movements to remain visible, further intensifying the emotional tension within the piece.
