Anima

Julia Gramaglia - United States of America

As if witnessing creation itself, an animating presence is called into form.

Photographed in Tulum, Mexico in 2026, Anima lives somewhere between a portrait and an apparition. The title, Anima, draws from the Latin "anima," meaning soul or breath, as well as on Jung’s idea of an inner, mysterious psychic presence.

It is an unedited digital photograph, produced as a full-bleed dye-sublimation print on aluminum, float mounted off the wall.
