Liminal Liberty — Autumn
Cold wax and oil on canvas

Liminal figures surface through layers of ochre, rust and ash, merging into a single collective face. Each is a presence caught mid-threshold. Cold wax is built up and scraped back, so the surface becomes stratigraphy, evidence of having been here: a cave painting in reverse. Autumn opens a four-season cycle sequenced backwards, from Autumn to Winter, because even the seasons are held in imposed liminality. This is where the descent begins. The rust is a form of decay, and the figures hold on while the ground beneath them shifts. Here liberty is not release. It is the uncomfortable act of staying visible in the in-between.
