Hadia Moiz is a Pakistani visual artist with a vast and varied portfolio. She has an MA with Honors in Visual Arts from the National College of Arts, Lahore, 2016 and a BFA (miniature) from the Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts, 2005. She uses art as a strong entity and a tool for channeling ideas, impulses, desires, and inclinations into expression, which gives her flexibility to construct her own world, to think outside the box, to explore new ways of being, and to challenge the set realities in her society.
Hadia’s work has undergone various phases in discovering fresh approaches within miniature painting by expanding the art form, embracing its technique as well as its historical context. Such as by fusing it with other media, rearranging traditional images to create a new satirical narrative that reflects contemporaneity, making its paint application technique three-dimensional, or carving text from miniature painting books while leaving the images in their respective places in the illustration and creating a new superimposed narrative.
She renders her works through various mediums such as books, miniatures, collage, perspex, and laser cutting and manifests her narrative in multiple layers, often using wit and humour in her practice.
She has displayed her work in numerous exhibitions since 2006, both in Pakistan and abroad. She has also exhibited at various art fairs, including Istanbul Contemporary, Scope Miami, and Bastakia Art Fair Dubai. Her solo exhibitions, "Read" at O Art Space in Lahore and "Lusty Lover '' and "Lota Republic" in Khaas Gallery, Islamabad, were well received by the audience. Moiz was also a participant in the VASL Taza Tareen II Artist Residency, 2007. Her works have been published in various local and international media as well. Hadia lives and works in Lahore.
