Coeur fendu

This work presents two aspects. On one hand, there is the wood—thick plywood, a material often deemed coarse and inelegant—which, once carved and worked, reveals its inner nature by presenting a multiplication of the original form envisioned by the artist. On the other hand, the piece is split in two, embodying the duality of love: the lover and the beloved.

So much symbolism in a single piece of wood!
