Azorean Inspiration

Art is intrinsically linked to our mental well-being, serving as an individual expression that has always acted as a vehicle for humanity to communicate, especially through new technologies, encompassing all possible forms of human expression. The creative and artistic process not only provides pleasure but also fosters social engagement, serving as a means to alleviate the accumulated tension of modern daily routines. Consequently, it becomes a valuable practice for building a positive psychological environment.

Chromotherapy, in turn, is a complementary treatment utilizing colors with specific therapeutic functions, acting on the cells of the body to improve the balance between body and mind, resulting in a sense of well-being and relief from symptoms of certain diseases. Archaeological evidence suggests that chromotherapy was already practiced in the temples of Heliopolis in Ancient Egypt, as well as in China and India. In the 17th century, Isaac Newton, a pioneer of the laws of physics, conducted the experiment known as the "Phenomenon of Colors." In 1810, the German writer Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe published the "Theory of Colors," challenging the mechanistic thinking of the time and the rationalization of nature. Goethe viewed colors as a result of the interaction between light and darkness, exploring the effects of colors on humans in terms of sensory-moral aspects.

The application of chromotherapy is broad, ranging from fibromyalgia to depression and side effects of treatments. Each color possesses distinct properties and acts on specific points of the body. Given the aforementioned, the artwork aims to provide a meditative color experience, creating chromatic fields to connect people in an often alienating urban environment. The intention is to foster an emotional and spiritual experience, filling gaps in community and empathy.

The gradient beauty of the artwork transcends borders, transforming colors into a spectrum that reveals a spirit of fluid and evolving culture, inspired by the breathtaking landscape of the Azores Archipelago. This gradient represents hope, freedom, innovation, co-creation, and coexistence, through the synergy of various colors, without barriers or limitations.
