Veiled Manipulation

Manipulation can be disguised as beauty and attraction. In this piece, the large hand represents the spider. Its long fingers extend thin threads downward, controlling the figure below like a puppet. The dancer wears patterns that resemble peacock spiders, which are known for their vibrant colors and mating dances used to attract others. I wanted to connect this with how people are often drawn to things that appear beautiful and appealing on the surface. However, that attraction can sometimes become a trap, where we don't immediately realize we are being manipulated. Beauty becomes a mask for control, turning attraction into a subtle form of deception.
