GLADYS NILSEN is a digital artist based in New York. Her vibrant digital art celebrates her personal experiences around the world, her native Chile as well as her life in the United States, where she is an American citizen.

It's almost surreal to be at this point in my career, especially as someone born before WWII. Growing up in my remote country we had no technological advances and life was modest and basic. I could never have imagined in a million years about the future with computers, let alone producing art with them! But I'm glad I discovered my passion, and I believe it was always there but hidden, because probably I unconsciously knew I couldn't devote myself to art until I had I finished raising my six children and retired.

37 years after I immigrated to USA, and worked hard to be able to retire, the isolation I felt alone in my home as a result of Covid19, combined with my anxiety and anguish, pushed me to reinvent myself and find something to do. That's when my creative spirit took flight, and with pixels, I discovered a whole new world: "DIGITAL ART."

My digital work evolved from an inspiration of some altered pixilated images to an entirely new digital world and art form. They are all brought to life with a variety of vibrant colors that contrast with one other and with powerful compositions that bring out the best in each subject. I had no formal training, education, or experience in this field or discipline, but I at 82 years old, I became a DIGITAL ARTIST through my enthusiasm and inspiration. My art is sometimes hyperactive for being different and original, covering the entire range of human emotions. It can also be whimsical, terrifying, fantastical, or mysterious, but it is always a work of mastery. I began with my own images before distorting them to give them "A New Life." A virtual life influenced by nature, flora and fauna, and everyday objects. MY ART defines it as "MESMERIZING, BOLD, AND BEAUTIFUL."

I was inspired to create new art by my feelings which I combined in YouTube videos along with some of my songs.

Now that I’m 84 years old, I HAVE FOUND A NEW EDGE IN DIGITAL ART!
