The mediums that I work with in mixed media collage, digital photography, sculpture and performance art. My work is centered on sociopolitical issues and gravitates towards politics of gender and sexuality. My approach to art making can be described as unapologetically feminist, as I make use of imagery that interrogates and embraces various femininities and seeks to produce alternatives for masculinity that are more constructive and ultimately alternatives for hegemonic notions of gender. I am particularly interested in bringing to the fore the narratives of those who face systematic erasure. With my art I aim to empower those who can be described as the other, black womxn and queer individuals in South Africa and in the world over.
