Raymond Wirick has been a professional sculptor and painter for over 30 years. He currently lives and works in East Kennett, Wiltshire U.K. with his lovely wife and two daughters.

My paintings investigate the barrier between the conscious and the sub conscious. I push and pull figures and landscapes around like chess pieces through and around this separation. Narratives begin to form when veiled figures cross over and interact with man and his landscape. Like chess pieces, the players in this world can conflict and destroy or save and protect.

Circus characters portray magnificent balance in the face of overwhelming defeat. The gods are summoned to explain our anxiety. The conclusions that we form in our conscious mind are fostered and supported by the sub conscious.
