The Weight We Carry

Lama Tashkandi - United Arab Emirates

The Weight We Carry returns to the solitary figure. A dark, elongated body emerges against a weathered ivory ground marked by fragments of red.

The figure's extended form suggests both strength and heaviness. There is no face through which to read a specific emotion; instead, posture, scale and material surface carry the psychological weight of the work.

The painting reflects on the invisible histories people carry within them; the experiences that shape us without necessarily being visible to others.
