L'Intelligence emprisonnée

Amidst the many dramatic events we have experienced in recent years—pandemics, wars, climate change—we find ourselves subject to a form of control over our intellect and emotions. We are no longer sure what is true and what is not, what is right and what is wrong, we no longer know where to turn, what to do, or what to think. Ordinary people (ourselves) fall victim to misinformation, incomprehensible decisions, and the curtailing of our freedom of thought; our intellect loses its bearings. This is what the artist sought to convey in this work, in which the sensory receptors located on the face—those that feed our intellect (sight, hearing, taste, and smell)—transform into a kind of prison, caging our minds.
