The race - Bloody Rusty

Adrian Matei - Romania

The Race: Bloody Rusty "The Race: Bloody Rusty" is not merely a sculpture, but a fragment of time frozen in an absurd and visceral flight. The installation explores the dynamism of decay, where metal is no longer an inert element but an organism sweating oxide and memory. The work depicts a frantic march of hybrid silhouettes caught in a competition without a finish line, where the wheel — the symbol of progress — becomes a mechanism of captivity. The organic red textures ("bloody") intertwine with the harshness of corrosion ("rusty"), suggesting a fusion between the biological and the technological. It is a metaphor for the human condition: a relentless race through the desert of one's own existence, where the only certainty is the iron track left upon the scorched earth. By using recycled materials and brutal plastic interventions, Aurelius da Vinci transforms industrial residue into a sacred relic. "The Race" challenges us to look directly into the core of corrosion, where beauty is not born from perfection, but from the spirit's resistance against the time that devours us, layer by layer.
