The violin school in China and the many years of studying classical painting at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Russia set certain vectors and boundaries to my work.  I felt that I lacked self-expression, so after completing my studies and having invaluable experience, I decided to expand the scope of my work and try to shape something that would meet my inner vision of the world as a whole.  I became immersed in philosophy, archeology, mythology, biology and what I have always been attracted to -  the phenomena that surround us. 

I wanted to discern matter itself from what the objects that surround us really are. Everything that I saw around me began to take shape in images that I decided to express in my works.  We are powerless to change nature, but we can bestow it with certain qualities.  We do not know the true meaning of our existence and we often ask ourselves questions, for instance, what is a person?  This is a grand but at the same time empty topic.  You can discuss but never understand. Like, how people give themselves with the meaning of existence, trying to find their true purpose. I decided to assign materials a “task” and therefore reveal their different qualities. I acutely feel the difference between invention and discovery. As people did not invent but instead discovered electricity and having understood its nature began to use it for their own purposes. Hence, I try to return to the original “idea” of the architect which is not divided by science into branches and support a pre-scientific sensory approach.

 Studying music helped me with this and I allow it to influence my work.  Music is the mastery of control, it's not good to be inaccurate.  If you are mistaken, you will not convey the desired outcome of the piece. Nevertheless, I use music in all its manifestations in my works. Being ever present in my life it cannot but influence the result, as the rest of an artist's life influences their work. When I give objects a different form, I notice things that are normally familiar to everyone turn out to be far from familiar. For example, I know what a sponge looks like but when I use them to create a work they take a new meaning and I see a completely different being, as jamevue.  As a human I see objects by their structures, vague and indistinct without clear geometric forms but use art as a way to define them and give them meaning.Therefore, these creatures are eternally waiting for movement as if born or are just emerging. I ask myself if we could gain knowledge of such creatures. Now, through the prism of reality I feel an irrepressible desire to combine the living, the dead, reality and fantasy in my works.
