Karl Hoffmann (b. 1995, Auckland, New Zealand) began his artistic career at a young age, mostly drawing and painting grotesque, malformed beings while practicing his techniques. A pivotal move to Wellington, New Zealand to attain his Masters of Architecture (Prof) in 2018 saw a huge change to his artistic ambition; transitioning from a predominantly architectural background into the the art realm. 

Karl still practices architecture along with art. It is about a 50/50 split between the two. A perfect mix of rules and regulations found within architecture, and the chaotic freedom found within art. Karl's motivation stems from the rejection of much of today modern arts single layered and reductive battle for attention; the art worlds form of 'fast fashion'. The rationalised chaos exhibited in Karl's work aims to slow down the viewer, enabling a longer period of looking and discovering—the art worlds form of 'fast fashion'.
