Maku Ndiaye( Macoumba) A joyful expression of cubism weaved into traditional Senegalese roots. Maku uses vivid color to create highly stylised images that embrace the flatness of the canvas. During his art residency he became fascinated by Picasso. Historically Pablo was inspired by African tribal masks ('A head is a matter of eyes, nose, mouth, which can be distributed in any way you like'). Maku's work speaks to his roots, realities, values, and culture. He was born in Dakar, Senegal, now a Finnish citizen and has exhibited his works there and across Europe.
