Maria Buemi's artistic journey began at the Academy of Art, Costume and Jewel - Studio Ferrera (Ct), where she won the prize "Best Illustrator 2004" for the category "Best graphic tecnique" and qualified as a Fashion Designer in 2005. She used extensive fine-art tecniques to produce her first portfolio.

In 2006 she participated in a wood sculpture stage in Val d'Aosta, by the sculptor Siro Vierin, briefly developing skills in this area.

Soon afterwards she attended regular tuition at the Academy of Art and Restoration Abadir in S.Agata Li Battiati (Ct), developing drawing and graphic tecniques with the artist Dina Viglianisi and painting tecniques under the direction of the artists Piero Zuccaro and Giuseppe Puglisi. Her pieces evoque emotion through skillful layering of colour and light. She also incorporates texture to add a third dimension to her oil paintings.
