Soundtrack Dress

The Soundtrack Dress is a wearable art piece, manipulated by the user and her body. It is meant to bring the world of romantic comedies into reality. Through the use of  temperature, motion and touch sensors, this piece is a portable soundtrack which is activated in the real world to make you feel like the romantic comedy heroine of your dreams. This piece was made by mixing textiles and electronis: underneath the beautiful dress, there are wires and Arduino components (which are totally safe and wearable). I think that this is an interesting piece in terms of the possibilities we have for the future of contemporary art (mixing mediums, like fibres and electronics) as well as the future of fashion, which has already been evolving through the use of electronics for quite some time. Throughout my research, I have not found projects like this. Some are similar, but none have used sensors to create a soundtrack which is activated by the body and the elements rather than by a remote or switch.

This video simply shows how the piece works. For exhibition purposes, it will be worn on the night of the vernissage, then placed on a mannequin for the duration of the exhibit. Audience members will be able to manipulate the sensors on the mannequin. A brochure is provided to explain how the garment works.
