Itumeleng Koloko, known as nickname Mamase, born in Randfontein - west of Johannesburg. I refined my desire and passion for drawing and painting in High School, when visual art was one of the majoring subjects available. However, I went on to study my Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) – Double Major in Principles of Marketing III and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). Studying art was not an option as my family wanted me to be able to get a "paying job" after University and not a "hobby". From being an Operations and Strategy consultant at one of the big four auditing companies in the world to a Strategic Manager at one of the strongest insurance brand company in the world within a space of four years. Climbing the corporate ladder seems to be the best decision to make, however I still could not shake off my desire and love for the arts which I believe is my God-given talent, making the path not so clear.

 

Whilst working, I decided to pursue my purpose and passion for art, going by the artist name ByMamase - an emerging artist, working primarily in oils and pencil sketches. I took a major life risk and resigned from my job to pursue my passion for the arts. I often employ realistic techniques to create life-like portraits. My art services include but are not limited to: custom made paintings, drawing, printing art and framing as well as selling minor art crafts.

Currently my artworks find a home in the likes of: Founder and CEO of Discovery, Adrian Gore; SA Hip Hop artist Khuli Chana; Botswana Dr. Samba Nyirenda; Australian Senior Pastor and Global Founder of Hillsong Church Brian Houston and many more respectable clients. I also collaborate with events companies to produce relevant themed displays for events. My current income sources are from the sales of artworks, art prints and art objects to cover my costs, however I reinvest as much as possible into building my business and myself as a brand “Art by Mamase”.

 

My vision is to establish a platform that creates leaders of underprivileged youngsters whom I train on the basics of art, finance, communications, sales and marketing to sustain themselves whilst adding value to all stakeholders in communities. I would like to influence the arts and tourism industry.
