Sue is an encaustic painter whose work explores the colours, patterns and textures found in the urban environment and the juxtaposition of urban imagery with natural forms. She studied textile design in the UK before emigrating to Australia in 1991 and has lived in Hong Kong for the last fourteen years.

Sue has exhibited regularly in Hong Kong with collections of paintings, silkscreen prints and digital prints. Her most recent Unitatis collection was exhibited at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre in January 2018 and her work is held by collectors in the Hong Kong, UK, Australia and the USA.

Her mixed media paintings explore the effects of time upon the urban environment by capturing the layers of patterns and marks and the ultimate decay and distress of man made surfaces and structures. This human story can be read as a journey with layers of living history within the patterns and fascinating textures found in the urban environment. Whilst exploring the relationship of colours, textures and shapes, the compositional structure is pivotal to her work, as she strives to achieve a sense of order, balance and visual unity. With the strong use of compositional rules and mathematical principles within formally organise structured grids her works. Sue will be exhibiting at the Affordable Arts Fair in HK with the Fellowship studio in May 2018.
