Flood / Dive

Iga Konarska - Poland

Two panels. The same face. The same water. Two completely different ways of being underwater.  The left panel shows the flood: a jellyfish blooms where a tear should fall, its tentacles cascading down the cheek like mascara, like something beautiful that also stings. The eye is wide open. The face is not hiding. This is emotional dysregulation at its most honest — the moment when feeling everything at once becomes visible on the surface of the skin.  The right panel shows the dive: the same face, now behind a diver's mask. Still underwater. Still crying — a single tear escapes beneath the glass. But this time equipped. This time going in on purpose.  Living with ADHD means knowing both states intimately: the flood that arrives without warning, and the dive you choose anyway. Both are underwater. Both are real. The difference is the mask.
