Hailing from the south of Mauritius, Avilla Damar, born in year 1984, is a promising young artist adopting mostly a modernist and conceptual approach to art. She holds a Bachelor Degree in the Fine Arts with specialization in Painting and a Master Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism. Famous for her extrovert romantic series, this artist has no doubt made a name on the Mauritian Art platform and now paving the way internationally. The unique features of her art works remain her daring use of texture in an aesthetic way; her choice of concepts and interpretation and her vibrant colors and strokes. Avilla’s works have evolved from very dark themes to fantasies. Her most famous series include:
