Nacido en: Japan el 7 octubre 1968.

Actualmente viviendo en: Japan.

Emiko Yoshida is a glass artist based in Okinawa, Japan. Through plants permanently fused into glass, she explores how time is carried forward through living things, revealing the continuity of life—from flower to seed, from leaf to earth, and from one generation to the next.

To make these moments visible, she spent more than twenty years researching and developing a glass-firing technique that permanently fuses real botanical materials into glass without reducing them to ash. The technique was patented in Japan in 2015.

Working with naturally fallen leaves and flowers collected in Okinawa, Yoshida begins each work through close observation of nature. Rather than preserving plants themselves, she preserves the moments of transformation through which life continues and time is carried forward.

Her recent practice focuses on spatial installations in which permanently fused botanical forms and changing light make visible the relationship between time that remains and time that continues to flow.
