Accumulations

Accumulations explores the slow architectures that shape living matter over time. Built from thousands of patient ink strokes, the work grows layer after layer, echoing the meditative discipline of traditional Chinese brush techniques. Executed with Chinese ink on handmade Xuan paper — a material known for its sensitivity to gesture, absorption, and time — the piece develops through repeated deposits of ink that behave like natural sediments. The sheet is then mounted through marouflage, reinforcing the physical presence of the drawing while preserving its organic delicacy.

The work unfolds like a sedimented memory, recording the micro-movements of the hand as much as the natural processes it evokes. Both mineral and organic, it oscillates between fossil and organism, between emergence and persistence. Through this piece, I reflect on the quiet forces that construct the living world, and on the time contained within every accumulated gesture.
