In Waiting

In Waiting transforms a simple plastic chair — a familiar element of Mediterranean everyday life — into a symbol of collective tension. The object stands empty yet full: covered with inscriptions, notes, and phrases in Hebrew and English. Each mark becomes a trace of lived experience — ironic, weary, yet still hopeful.

The yellow background radiates both warmth and unease, evoking an atmosphere of endless waiting — between presence and absence, hope and anxiety. The work invites the viewer into a quiet contemplation of an inner state, where the ordinary becomes a vessel of memory.

Inspiration

The painting was inspired by Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv — a place where countless plastic chairs hold the imprints of daily life. They become silent witnesses to conversations, pauses, and waiting under the bright Mediterranean light. Through this ordinary object, the artist speaks about collective memory and the fragile calm that follows unrest.
