Seb Pollington (b 1966). British painter based in Italy and UK. Works mainly in acrylic and oil; some pencil and coloured sketching. Reviving his career in later life. Selected to exhibit at the Swiss Art Expo 2021 in Zurich; at London’s The Curator’s Salon The Marks We Make virtual exhibition (also 2021); and in 2022 at the Manchester Deansgate Gallery with upcoming British Art Exhibitions Manchester 2020 Virtual Reality show in February 2022. Formerly a British Army Colonel, Defence Diplomat, Mentor and Sports Chairman. He has a background in graduate development teaching leadership at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and now at Cambridge University where he currently mentors on Homerton College’s Changemakers Programme. Seb Pollington’s work centres on landscape, urban and coastal settings, especially in Italy where he currently lives and works. He focuses in particular on light, line, shape, colour and a sense of place. He views his career as giving experience in life and locations which he may never otherwise have achieved. They feature strongly in his portfolio. He also translates these to still life compositions. His style tends to offer contemporary form and colour with traditional landscape and seascape scenes. Perspectives and sight-lines combine with bold shades, strong brushstrokes and plenty of imperfection. The results are a mix of the grandiose and down-to-earth in paintings now gaining some attention in galleries and curators worldwide. He also has works in a number of private collections. Seb Pollington has a lifelong interest in art. While he now has time for painting, he subordinated artistic ambitions in favour of a distinguished military and diplomatic career serving his country around the world for more than 30 years. Now entering late-stage professional life in his fifties, and with grown-up children he’s been able to rebalance normally wide-ranging commitments to include a significant expansion of his portfolio.
