This series of artistic photography centres on the themes of psychological trauma and emotional healing in adolescents. Taking a first-person perspective as its creative foundation and drawing on Satir’s Iceberg Theory of Emotions as its core conceptual framework, the series visually translates the seven deep psychological dimensions lying below the surface of the iceberg. Employing a dual binary visual narrative logic. Through the stylistic contrast of glitch art and soft-focus lighting, alongside the symbolic expression of concrete imagery and abstract metaphors, it depicts the dual psychological states adolescents experience when facing psychological distress.
The works are divided into two major : Part One employs a repressive and extreme visual language to document self-destructive behaviours such as self-harm, alcohol abuse and self-indulgence, exposing their superficial nature—using false healing to mask trauma without addressing the root cause; Part Two uses warm and soft concrete objects to showcase adolescents’ longing for love, companionship and warmth, symbolising the complete path to spiritual redemption and self-reconstruction.
The entire series constructs the hidden inner world of adolescents, confronting the truth of trauma head-on to complete a narrative cycle from the revelation of trauma to spiritual reconstruction. Through personalised creative expression, it achieves a collective artistic account of the psychological struggles faced by contemporary adolescents.
