This large-format watercolor is part of my recent research on the perception of light and shadow.
The organic lace-like patterns projected onto the face act as both a visual and symbolic filter, creating a sensitive cartography of the skin. Through these subtle plays of light and transparency, the work questions the relationship between visibility and concealment, presence and absence, while highlighting the singular fluidity of the watercolor technique.
In it, I explore the delicate shadows cast by organic lace forms across the face — a fragile play of chiaroscuro in which the transparency and fluidity of watercolor reveal the full poetry of the moment.
