Programmed

Alexandar Симов - Bulgaria

"Programmed" explores the disturbing boundary between human identity and technology in the digital age. A surreal human face transforms into an interface resembling a remote control, suggesting the gradual loss of individual agency.

Behind the figure, a dense relief network of optical fiber cables, light signals, and high-tech components creates a technological environment that appears to invade and condition human consciousness. The person is no longer simply using technology — the human being itself has become a programmable apparatus for processing super-speed data.

Through vibrant pop-art colours and tactile, heavily textured surfaces enhanced by a brilliant gloss finish, the work reflects on a contemporary reality in which thoughts, emotions, and behaviour are increasingly influenced, formatted, and controlled by external systems.
