Liminal Liberty — Winter
Cold wax and oil on canvas

Winter closes the cycle. It is the most reductive panel in the series. A dark central column cuts through a field of frost-white and pale blue, and rust figures stand at its edges, half-erased and still holding their ground. Color is rationed and warmth survives only in fragments. As in each seasonal panel, the liminal figures merge into a single collective face. Cold wax is built up and scraped back, so the surface becomes stratigraphy, the last layer of evidence that someone was here: a cave painting in reverse. The four seasons run backwards, from Autumn to Winter, because even they are held in imposed liminality. This is where the descent arrives. Nothing is released and nothing resolves, and liberty means staying visible in the cold.
