With You

With You is part of the series Strength Through Vulnerability, which explores the complex relationship between human fragility, inner strength, and the need for emotional connection.

This painting emerged from deeply personal experiences and is dedicated to my husband, whose love and support helped me through some of the most difficult periods of my life. These experiences changed my understanding of strength. I came to realize that being strong does not always mean facing everything alone. Sometimes, true strength lies in acknowledging our vulnerability, trusting another person, and allowing ourselves to accept help.

At the heart of the painting is the feeling of losing one's footing — a state in which the familiar world no longer feels safe and circumstances seem to pull us into the unknown. I sought to convey this sensation through a deliberately unstable composition, where movement leads inward and downward, creating the impression of a slow, almost inevitable fall. The opposing movement of two hands reaching toward each other becomes an emotional counterbalance to this descent, symbolizing the possibility of being saved through love and trust.

Light and color play an essential role in expressing this idea. The gradual transition from warm, luminous tones to cooler, deeper shades intensifies the emotional tension between hope and despair, safety and fear. Light becomes a metaphor for love — a force capable of reaching us even during the darkest periods of our lives and helping us regain a sense of stability.

The symbolic elements within the painting reveal additional layers of this experience. The motif of a watchful gaze evokes anxiety, vulnerability, and the feeling of being constantly observed or subjected to pressure. Scattered personal belongings serve as a metaphor for the material world, whose significance changes when we face profound personal challenges. When our familiar sense of security disappears, many things that once seemed essential lose their importance. Human relationships, love, and the presence of those who genuinely care about us become what matters most.

For me, this painting is also a reflection on trust as one of the deepest forms of intimacy. Allowing another person to see our fear, weakness, and uncertainty can sometimes be far more difficult than maintaining an appearance of confidence. Yet it is precisely through this openness that a genuine connection emerges — the possibility of being accepted and loved not only in moments of happiness, but also when we are most in need of support.

With You is a personal expression of love and gratitude, but it is also a universal reflection on human interdependence. It explores how life's challenges reshape our understanding of what truly matters, and how love reveals itself not only through feelings and words, but above all through presence, trust, and the willingness to reach out when another person is losing their footing.

Through this work, I hope to convey that vulnerability does not make us weaker, and needing help does not diminish our strength. Sometimes, it is through another person that we find the courage to keep moving forward.
