Thirty years of intense drawing has raised my practice to a quick and free ability to illustrate directly from my mind to my pencil.  I am now taking this skill into oil.  Drawing in oil gives me the tension I desire.  There is no forgiveness in this medium for which I challenge my hand in unplanned drawing.  I have begun to paint in oil as well within the inaugural LRMFA program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Here, I combine a surrealism foundation of intense narrative with an edgy pop drawing drawn in oil right over the perfectly crafted and complete oil painting.  My own style.  Welcome to Pop expression by Amy Elizabeth Malcolm.
