Chris Noelle aka Tofa - Personalized Vita

Under the moniker "Tofa" - Chris Noelle (*1974) works as multimedia-artist in Berlin. Tofa is a freelancer in the fields of graphic-design, illustration, film, animation, photography, music and projection design.

His explicit skills have led to works for international clients, galleries, exhibitions and events.

His style has its roots from a passionate mixture of architecture, urban art, animation and graphic-design. Tofa has the talent of simultaniously joggling between different skills and styles to keep the creative output as interesting and challenging as possible.

Due to his expertice knowledge in visual projections he is wellknown for his works in the visual community. Tofa started visual projections with two VHS decks back in the 1990s´ and grew up with the visual software development over the following decades. Since 2002 he´s performing livevisuals and has collaborated with international artist and labels and worked on surface projections, e.g. during the Festival of Lights.

In 2003 Tofa tumbled upon the world of light-art photography - a longtime-exposure technique that is using lightsources to virtually leave traces within a picture. Fascinated by the styles and options he focused on this technique. With a scholarship at Kunstverein Röderhof in Germany (2006) and a year later one in Tokyo at Tokyo Wondersite Gallery, he jumped onto another level - and today, he is one of the world leading artists of this genre.

Tofa is also co-founder of The Core.Berlin, a team of and lighting-designers and multimedia-experts who work globaly on stage-, interior- and lighting-designs where he is deeply involved in ongoing creative developments for visual solutions.

Within his artistic approach he is working on conceptual series with an allover-multimedia expertice: graphic aspects merged with typography, urban elements and humans in stills, interactions and animations.
