Dieneke Tiekstra is a prize-winning artist and  founder of Galerie Rueb & Tiekstra. She studied visual arts at the Kunstacademie Haarlem Leiden and is involved with themes such as time, future and movement. Some objects have a clear movement element. Her work asks questions and challenges the viewer. She is searching for the balance between abstraction and figurative art and uses the forms and structures of everyday and reused material. In the serie “The evolution of Man” Tiekstra visualizes her fascination for time and future design. What does the world look like in a hundred or a thousand years?

Man becomes more and more machine and machine more and more human. Can we live in the future with a leg or arm less? Will we become the future Gods? Will we disappear in the future in digital clouds? Do we fall into bits to pieces? Man keeps on moving. A movement that is still just in balance.  Movement indicates a certain time. Time is important. The future will always remain a puzzle or will the puzzle pieces of life ever fall into place?
