If I was to use one word to describe my recent work it would be:  MYTHOS.                                            

Mythology is not a fairytale relic of the distant past; it is a living link which leads to new horizons and new understandings of the world we live in.               

Being the product of a Bulgarian mother and an ethnic Turkish father my life was blessed with the richness of two vibrant cultures. This environment created a fertile soil for my imagination as I went in search for my identity.   My work is like a travelling theater, equipped with all kinds of personages, structures and surreal mindscapes. There is an abundance of heroes and scenes that draw on my life experience.

I believe in the concept of GESAMTKUNSTWERK – a total integration of the arts in the name of the IDEA.               

Art and literature were the religions in my household. In my memories Gaugin’s island women meet the black and red protagonists of Athenian vases and then set sail for Easter Island.

In 1989 my father and I left Bulgaria as political refugees and I travelled to Rome, Italy. Consequently the merry-go-round of life took us to San Francisco and then New-York.  In the United States I dove into a cosmos of artistic influences.  After graduating from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 1998, I experimented with objects, video, photography, sound and performance - I was an explorer of the post-modernist labyrinth.
