I was born in Envigado, Antioquia, a province in Colombia. My family is from Iberian and Italian descent. As a child, I was quiet and didn’t talk until I was put in school at the age of 8. I participated on a national kids art contest in 1967 and won my very first prize. The drawing, which was a fish, was published in the national tv.

I then flew with my parents and whole family -dog included,- to New York, where I lived until I was twenty years old. I went to High school and chose the artistic sector. I participated in the decoration of the school doing murals, and in collecting funds for the local library doing portraits at local fairs. I graduated from High School and went to Marist College, Poughkeepsie, majoring in International Studies. I did my third year abroad in Paris as I needed to improve my French, besides my already acquired Spanish and English, in order to become a diplomat. When I arrived to Paris, I decided I would stay in Europe and changed my major to French Studies, minoring in Art history. I graduated from the American University in Paris, and went then to la Sorbonne-Paris IV and studied linguistics and French literature. I also learned Japanese and studied Japanese art, which has influenced in many ways my artistic work. In 2014, I moved to Zürich, where I live currently.

I have always wanted to become an artist, and so I was very happy when I started to work for friends and getting commissions in Paris in the late 1980s. To assure myself an income, I followed a apprenticeship in trompe-l’oeil. I had already done some jobs, but I could improve the technique and I needed as well a certificate. Ever since, I have been painting, working for private patrons and exhibiting my work in Europe, Japan, the United States and Latin-America.

As an art lover, I also put my knowledge and experience at the service of restoration -gilding restoration, mural preservations, mostly for private clients.

My work is mostly figurative. However I have been flirting with abstraction since 2004. My goal is to succeed in representing a figurative reality that has no defined position, but can be seen from any angle, including changing the way it is shown.

And last but not least, I have also come to develop teaching aptitudes in order to assure an income. I coach in English, French and Spanish.
