Inspired at the age of ten by a gigantic Holly Bible that my father, Earl James Fairbairn
would often read,and the kids were never allowed to touch. I would sneak down in the middle
of the night with my heart pounding like a drum, just to carefully pull back the onion skin paper
to reveal the very large prints of biblical paintings done by the great masters who's names I
could never pronounce. In the fourth century BC Plato said," Beholding beauty with the eye
of the mind can transcend you to a higher order making you a friend with God". I truly felt this
with every turn of the page and still do to this day some 45 years later. Many years of studying
the great masters and their secrets brings me to a time in my life were I can sit back and be
mystified by my own work. And knowing there is still much more to do.
